Hautbois Hall is a beautiful Tudor Manor built in 1555 and set in 36 acres of garden estate. The Grade II listed Elizabethan country house is located just 25 minutes north of Norwich City in Little Hautbois near Coltishall. It is neatly nestled between the River Bure and the Bure Valley Railway with Wroxham, the gateway to the Norfolk Broads, just a further 5 miles away.
Katie and Lester Bayfield bought Hautbois Hall in 2013 and over the past few years they have lovingly restored and renovated all the buildings on the estate and turned it into a wonderfully cozy and attractive Norfolk wedding venue.
Why Hautbois Hall for your Norfolk Wedding?
If you’re looking for a Norfolk wedding venue set in beautifully restored Tudor buildings, offering stunning accommodation for up to 6 guests, has all the amenities that you’d expect from a high end wedding venue for your family and guests, allows you to express your own wedding vision and creativity and that doesn’t break the bank then Hautbois Hall has it all.
Having your wedding at Hautbois Hall offers you the flexibility to really express your wedding creativity in a beautiful country setting. Unlike some wedding venues where you’d buy a rigid “Wedding Package”, at Hautbois Hall you are allowed to bring in all your creative ideas and suppliers and work alongside their highly experienced wedding planner Cheryl Beeney to help you realise your vision. She’s been planning weddings for over 10 years and knows a thing or two about how to make it a success. From garden party, marquee weddings, BBQ weddings to barn weddings and more, Hautbois Hall gives you the flexibility to have almost any type of wedding.
Hautbois Hall is a Norfolk County Council approved wedding venue and most wedding ceremonies are carried out on the lawn immediately in front of the main hall. The signing of the register is carried out just inside the hall. It’s a beautiful setting for a wedding ceremony.
All wedding bookings at Hautbois Hall include the rental of the Music Cottage and Haybarn. Both of these have been recently renovated to a very high standard making them even more comfortable and relaxing for your wedding weekend.
The Music Cottage is a large cottage which sleeps two in a large double bedroom. It has a large dining and living room, a fully appointed kitchen and wet room with toilet. A hamper breakfast is delivered to you each morning.
The Haybarn is larger than the Music Cottage and sleeps 4 in the double and twin bedroom. It also has a large comfortable living- dining room and shower room.
The main barn has been renovated and extended and can now accommodate 130 guests to a sit down wedding breakfast or up to 180 for the evening reception. There’s a fully licensed bar and bar staff to take care of your wedding guests.
Having your wedding at Hautbois Hall isn’t as expensive as you might imagine either. Because you are in control of all aspects of your wedding planning you are in absolute control of your wedding budget. This may sound daunting but don’t worry, Cheryl will be with you all the way and can guide and advise on all aspects of your wedding planning and recommend suppliers and vendors she knows can deliver what you expect. Cheryl also knows what works and what might not work so well. If you’re planning a mid summer garden wedding for example, what if the weather is too hot (it happens!) or turns wet halfway through the day? Do you need a marquee as well as a backup. She’ll help with all those scenarios and more.
You can arrange your own caterers, marque hire and even garden games and if you need any recommendations then Cheryl can help.
Over the years there have been a whole range of weddings, from garden party where guests brought their own picnic hampers, Mad Hatter Tea Party, marquee and barn weddings. Hautbois Hall has also seen a range caterers including fish and chip vans, hog roasts, BBQ’s, mobile pizza vans and beautifully elaborate sit down meals in the Barn. Unlike some venues that offer wedding packages there’s no surcharge for having your own wedding cake or desserts. Sounds odd, but it happens!
Hautbois Hall also only offers one wedding per weekend typically a Saturday. Couples, their families and supporting vendors can set up the day before the wedding and then take everything down by Sunday lunch time. The extra time means you aren’t rushing to put up and take down your wedding compared to some venues that have multiple weddings over a weekend.
Real Weddings at Hautbois Hall
In 2014 I photographed Dana and Rob’s wedding at Hautbois Hall. The weather that day was exceptional and their garden picnic on the tennis courts with garden games were beautifully intimate.
I’m back at Hautbois Hall in 2018 for three spectacular summer weddings. Watch this space for the blog write-ups.
