Hannah and Simon, wow, where do I begin with this? Two of the loveliest people I’ve had the good fortune to meet and with the warmest families that let me into their lives for 36 hours to photograph their beautiful wedding.
I was recommended to them by a mutual friend who’d seen Jo and Conor’s wedding photographs. We exchanged a few emails back in 2016 and then met at the end of March and they talked me though all their plans and the theme for the day. It was the first time we’d met face to face and we got on really well and had so much in common. The hour and a half in the cafe seemed like 15 minutes!
Their wedding venue was the stunning Blake Hall in Ongar, Essex. Oh my, what a venue! With beautifully restored cottages and oak barns for the wedding ceremony and reception, impeccable gardens and the most helpful staff. It made the whole experience effortless.
Hannah, Simon and their friends had spent months making (and carefully storing) all the decorations for their Seaside themed wedding. From painted crabs, decorated pebbles, shells and bottled Anglesey Sea Salt, the attention to detail was off the scale. It was stunning.
They had also spent many hours planning their wedding ceremony. They came from Catholic and Jewish backgrounds and didn’t want just the civil ceremony. So they sought advice and made contact with their old priest and rabbi and between them produced a hybrid ceremony to honor both families religions. So thoughtful and beautifully executed.
I’ve been to a few weddings now but I’ve never cried during the speeches! They were so loving, honest, heartwarming and funny all at the same time. They were beautiful and testament to the two loving families coming together.
Hannah and Simon, thanks for a wonderful day.
