Charlene and Mark’s wedding took me all the way over to Surrey for their Horsley Towers wedding. A grand Gothic mansion built in 1820 by Charles Barry, Horsley Towers is set in 70 Acres on De Vere Horsley Estate near Guildford. With beautifully manicured gardens a lakeside and woodland it really is a very picturesque setting for a romantic wedding. With a capacity for 120 or so guests it was just big enough for all their family and friends coming to celebrate with them from the far reaches of Norfolk, Ireland and Surrey.
Charlene and Mark had booked me earlier in the year and like most of my couples we met a few times during the year. This was invaluable as we really got to know each other and I got a real insight into them and their wedding plans. Their vision, planning and attention to detail carried right through to their wedding and it was almost flawless: a break in to their van laden with their wedding gear only set them back slightly as they rushed to get new suits the day before! They were unflappable.
When I arrived Charlene and her bridesmaids were getting ready in the mansion while the boys were putting the final touches to the decorations downstairs. Every hour Mark had arranged for a card and small present to be sent up to her. Cue tissues and foggy eyes as she read each card out to us. She looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress and Mark looked pretty damn sharp too!
After the ceremony they went for a helicopter flight round Surrey then re-joined everyone enjoying the lovely steel band. With family and friends reuniting from across the country, the bar was well attended which made for some really entertaining dancing! Music was a big part of this wedding and The Walks from Kings Lynn kicked off the evening entertainment before DJ Sparky took the dancing way into the night!
Char and Mark, you smashed this!
