My first Norwich castle wedding of 2017 was in the Benefactors Room at Norwich Castle Registry Office in March and it came as a bit of a surprise. Sarah and Dan had been planning their wedding for years but careers, a house move, redecorating and a new baby understandably put their wedding date back a bit!
The surprise was that their good friend knew I was a wedding photographer and as a lovely gift to Sarah she booked me to photograph their wedding! I was quite excited as it was my first wedding at the new Registry Office in the Benefactors Room at the Norwich Castle. I’d previously shot Jo and Connor’s wedding at Churchman House, the old Register Office. So, with wedding contract signed we discussed timings and two weeks later I arrived at Sarah and Dan’s house to start the morning.
Their plans were really lovely and simple: prep at home, black cab to the Castle, wedding ceremony, photos around the Castle and the City then lunch back at their house. A lovely small and intimate wedding with just their immediate family and closest friends. Sarah had made her own beautiful bouquets using flowers and ribbon from the stalls on Norwich Market and as we walked through the Market I overheard two stallholders gasp “Isn’t that the lade we served last week. Doesn’t she look lovely!”
Weddings at the Norwich Castle Registry Office are very efficient and are great for small weddings. They’re also very personal and the grounds and old city lanes make for a lovely occasion and some lovely photographs. Here are a selection of my favourites from Sarah and Dan’s wedding.
