Jasmine and Kieran’s small and intimate wedding at Glebe Farm Barn was quite remarkable in a crazy year when the whole world shut down due to the Coronavirus pandemic. I’ve known Jas and Kieran for a few years and it’s always extra special when someone you know asks you to photograph their wedding. We first met to discuss their wedding back in the summer of 2019 and I was super excited to be photographing a wedding at Glebe Farm Barn – it would be a new venue for me to explore!
They chose Glebe Farm Barn for the relaxed and boho feel of the converted cow shed for their ceremony and the beautiful large barn for their reception. Adjacent to the barn are some beautiful gardens that we could use for some portraits after the ceremony. Glebe Farm Barn is also really close to Norwich so it’s really convenient for their Norwich based friends to get to.
The Original Plan was for a typical all day wedding starting with Jasmine’s getting ready at a gorgeous cottage in Hingham then heading to Glebe Farm Barn for the wedding ceremony, reception and finishing with a DJ set late in the evening. This was the plan before the world was turned upside down and inside out by COVID-19 in January 2020. As the novel coronavirus spread across the globe borders and countries started to shut down and by early March it was obvious that the UK was going to shut down soon. I emailed all my 2020 couples and advised them to quickly secure new dates in 2021 as there was no telling how 2020 would turn out.
Jas and Kieran quickly thought of a Plan B and secured a new date for their wedding in 2021. By June the lockdown rules were being relaxed with small weddings being permitted from early July 2020. Jas and Kieran decided to keep their original date for a small and intimate wedding and the 2021 date for a large reception celebration.
Their small wedding was just beautiful! They had all the details including beautiful bouquets and flower circle that framed them perfectly as they made their wedding vows. It was a magical few hours with them both and their closest 22 friends and family. It was also such a relief to be back out working after months of restrictions.
Having spent a few hours with them all I can’t wait for the reception next year. It’s going to be one hell of a party! Small and intimate weddings are probably going to be with us for a few more months and this is wedding sets the bar pretty high for a wonderfully planned and executed small and intimate wedding.
