Wow, where do I begin with this absolutely stunning same sex wedding at Hautbois Hall. Sadly this was to be my third and final wedding here this year and as expected it didn’t disappoint. The amazing summer weather held out and we were bathed in wonderfully warm sunshine all day. Perfect for an outdoor wedding ceremony in the Norfolk countryside.
This was my first same sex wedding and I arrived nice and early for the bridal hair and makeup and also to catch any last minute finishing touches to the decorations. I had met Gemma and Emily a week earlier and we’d caught up on the timings and plans for the day so when I arrived it was straight to work. They had put and enormous amount of thought and effort into designing and making their own wedding. They had made their own dried flower bouquets, their dads had up-cycled a felled tree to make personalised coasters for everyone, they refurbished an old wooden cart for their sweet and cards and they made all their own decorations. This was a real labour of love with their own personalities stamped all over.
Gemma and Emily had stayed the night before in the Music Cottage and and their dads and brothers had stayed in the Hay barn also on site at Hautbois Hall. This was another lovely and relaxed wedding and I moved between the two Cottages to cover some elements of he boys getting ready as well as all the bridal prep.
Wedding day’s slip by incredibly quickly and before we knew it, it was time for the ceremony. Both Gemma and Emily had bought their dresses separately and hadn’t seen each others till the night before. They looked amazing and both dresses complemented their individual personalities.
The joint dad’s speeches were wonderfully heartfelt and had everyone reaching for tissues, me included. The Brosmaids speeches were wonderfully crafted and delivered with all the humour and emotion you’d expect from such loving close knit families. Again there were damp eyes everywhere.
The lovely Norwich based Claire Barker band duo had played during the ceremony, the reception meal and then the full complement band joined them for the evening party. This was a great party and demanded I stay on till well after 10 pm.
I knew right from the first time I met Gemma and Emily that this would be a great day and it absolutely was.
